Teaching Philosophy

"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time."
- Thomas Edison
Every student is capable of achieving greatness regardless of what challenges they may face. Each student has traveled a different path in life. Some have faced unthinkable challenges that required hard work, dedication, and sacrifice. Learning should be student-focused rather than teacher-focused. Knowledge acquisition takes many forms, and my job as an educator is to discover how each student learns best. I seek to guide my students by inspiring them to never stop learning and always seek a deeper sense of understanding.
I will provide my students with every opportunity to learn by developing a culture of curiosity. Having a safe learning environment where students are comfortable asking questions is one of the most important things an educator can do. I firmly believe that leading by example helps students build trust. With that trust, I am able to actively engage students and depend their sense of knowledge. I will approach each educational opportunity with an open mind, and help my students to do the same.
Many of us remember a teacher from our educational endeavors that made an impact on our lives. Although those instructors may be unaware of how their actions changed so many lives, some people may not be where they are today without them. I want students to believe in themselves so greatly, that no matter what challenges their future entails, they will remember the tools that I gave them and achieve greatness anyway.
